Avustralya'nın milli hava yolu şirketi Qantas, 2 milyar dolarlık tasarruf yapabilmek için 5 bin kişinin işine son vereceğini açıkladı.

Sendika yöneticileri ise Qantas'ın yaşadığı ekonomik sıkıntıların iyi yönetilememesinden kaynaklandığını, kötü yönetimin yükünü personelin taşıdığını savundu.

2 milyar dolar tasarruf hedefi

1920 yılında kurulan Avustralya'nın milli hava yolu şirketi Qantas'ın, 5 bin kişinin işine son verilmesi, yapılan harcamalardaki kısıtlamalar, filo ve servis ağında yapılacak yeni düzenlemeler ile 2 milyar dolarlık bir tasarrufu hedeflediği açıklandı.

Qantas bünyesinde halen 33 bin 265 kişi çalışıyor. 5 bin kişinin işten çıkarılması yaklaşık yüzde 15'lik bir iş gücü azaltılması anlamına geliyor.

Qantas mevcut yapısı ile Avustralya içinde yüzde 65'lik yolcu taşıma kapasitesine sahip. Avustralya dışına seyahat eden yolcuların ise yüzde 18,7'sini Qantas taşıyor. Son 5 yılda Avustralya borsasında işlem gören Qantas hisseleri önemli değer kaybı yaşadı. 2009'da 3 dolar olan hisse değeri bugünlerde 1 dolar 18 sent civarında işlem görüyor.

İşsizlik yükselişe geçti

Avustralya'da üretim yapan Ford, Toyota, Holden (General Motor) gibi otomobil firmalarının, fabrikalarını kapatma kararı aldığı 2016-2017 yılları öncesi işçi çıkartması da ülkede işsizlik oranının yüzde 5,8'den 6'ya çıkmasına neden oldu.

Qantas to take on 14 Aviation Australia apprentices in Brisbane and Sydney

Brisbane-based training organisation, Aviation Australia has announced that 14 of its aircraft maintenance trainees have been selected to work for Qantas at the airline’s Brisbane and Sydney maintenance facilities.

An Aviation Australia statement says 13 of the trainees will start their apprenticeships at Brisbane working on Qantas’s 737 and A330 fleets, while the 14th will work in line maintenance in Sydney on the 737, 747, 767, A330 and A380 aircraft.

“This is an exceptional result for these graduates as they now have the opportunity to train and gain experience in a world class organisation such as Qantas,” Bill Horrocks, CEO of Aviation Australia said. “This outcome demonstrates our excellent record of employment for our graduates from the day students commence their training with us, they are being prepared for productive roles in the industry and this is very attractive to both students and employers, in particular Qantas.”
